Investigator's Data Base
The IDB provides licensed investigators with a way of checking to see whether other investigators already have information about a Person of Potential Interest (PPI). This information can be very useful to both parties and their clients.
Why supplying information will benefit you and your clients
When another investigator gets a match on a PPI you have already entered on the IDB, they can contact us and we will pass on their inquiry to you. You then know that person has come to the attention of another investigator and it is up to you to contact the person making the inquiry via the IDB.
Where there are two separate records, it is of potentially great assistance to both investigators to know about the other matter - they can chose to swap information, cost-share additional work, etc.
Why not make money out of information that is going to cost you to store. Let your data pay for itself.
Does the IDB breach the Privacy Act?
No. When an investigator is first instructed on a matter, they will usually undertake a number of searches to either verify or obtain additional information about that person. Searching the IDB is no different. The only data available is the person's name, suburb and state - information that is already available from a number of other sources. This is done solely for matching purposes.
Contact details for the person/organisation who provided the original information is NOT identified. Simply email us with the LOG ID that is supplied with each match (together with the details provided from that match) and we will pass that information on to the original supplier of the data. It will then be up to them to contact you direct.
Once the new inquiry is passed on, it is then up to the original supplier of that person's details to (if necessary) contact their client to get an okay authorising the release of any additional information to that investigator. Remember, it is in the client's best interests to do so as they too will learn about another potentially related matter. As we all know, it is not uncommon for some persons to come to the attention of investigators for multiple matters.
